Beautiful Anglesey is located in North Wales and neighbours the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. Whilst visiting the area, it was a good opportunity to visit what turns out to be one of the most beautiful places in the United Kingdom.

Visiting Anglesey
This area of North Wales is popular with people who enjoy the great outdoors and Is especially good for hiking due to its rugged coastline and stunning scenery.
I could easily spend a couple of weeks on the Isle of Anglesey where there is so much to see and do. If you are restricted on time, these are my top picks!
Parys Mountain
Parys Mountain has an spectacular landscape and is known locally as the Welsh Grand Canyon. During the 18th century the site was the largest copper mine in the world and in the current day, has a network of paths which provide amazing views of the 1 kilometre wide crater which shows off an array of colours from reds, oranges, pinks, browns, purples to blacks, greens and greys. I recommend taking the Parys Mountain Circular walk which gives great views of the site and passes by the windmill and ruins.
Llanddwyn Island
Ynys Llanddwyn (also known as Llanddwyn Island) is a small tidal island off the west coast of Anglesey which is steeped in history, nature and beautiful landscapes. The island has two lighthouses, a ruined 16th-century chapel and can be accessed at all times except at the highest tides.
Take the scenic 3.8 mile Newborough Beach and Llanddwyn Island trail provided by AllTrails, which starts at Newborough Beach Car Park and passes along the beach, onto the island and loops back through Newborough Woods.
Puffin Watching
Puffins can be observed at a couple of locations in Anglesey, however i would definitely recommend taking a boat trip to Puffin Island where the Puffins can be observed nesting along the cliff edge and additional wildlife including Grey Seals and other sea birds can be viewed. Sea Coast Safaris operate a cruise experience onboard their 12 seater boat called Salacia, providing informative and humorous narrative which makes for a fun experience. if you are short of time, Puffins may also be viewed during the nesting season at RSPB South Stack Cliffs Nature Reserve. Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, often abbreviated as Llanfair PG, is a village on the island of Anglesey. This small community is world-famous for having the longest place name in Europe and the second-longest in the world. The name, which is 58 characters long, was originally created in the 19th century as a publicity stunt to attract tourists and is a combination of Welsh words that translate to “St Mary’s Church in the Hollow of the White Hazel near a Rapid Whirlpool and the Church of St Tysilio near the Red Cave.”
Despite its playful origins, the name has become a symbol of Welsh culture and language, capturing the imaginations of people worldwide. The village itself, while modest in size, attracts visitors curious to see the iconic railway station sign displaying the full name. Additionally, the local community has embraced the attention, making the village a unique cultural landmark in Wales that highlights the country’s rich linguistic heritage.

Castles
Top Right Caernarfon Castle, Bottom Right Dolbadarn Castle
Anglesey like the rest of Wales, has a large number of Castles and these are always worth a visit, especially if you enjoy exploring historic buildings and ruins. Often the castles are situated at picturesque landscapes with outstanding views.
Whilst in beautiful Anglesey, I recommend visiting Powis Castle, Beaumaris Castle, Penrhys Castle, Caernarfon Castle & Dolbadarn Castle. Each of these castles have their unique characteristics and it is fascinating to learn how they have survived numerous battles through the centuries.
